Funeral service for Alex W. Jones, 85, a long time resident of this community, who died at his home in the east part of town friday, Nov. 12, 1954, after a long illness, was conducted Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock, from the Roberts Funeral Chaple with Rev. Eugene Biby pastor of the Proctor First Baptist Church officiating, assisted by Rev.Glen Perkins of Dallas TX, a grandson of Mr. Jones.Oscar Smith sang 3 solos with Mrs. John Bunnell at the piano.Pallbearers; J.E.McCuistion, John Tenant, Herman Nunn, Oscar Smith, Shorty Walker and D.W.Bushyhead. Mr.Jones was born Aug. 7, 1869, in Tennessee. He had been living in Adair County since 1930, and had served as a peace officer in Westville. Survivors include his wife Getrude; one daughter in McKinney, TX; three sons, one in McKinney, TX, one in Boonville, AR and one in AZ. 32 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
