Bio

SSGT, 722nd Bomber Squadron, 450th Bomber Group, World War II. Radio Operator-Gunner aboard B-24H Liberator #41-29582, nicknamed "Gray Goose." Shot down on mission to strike the German submarine pens in southern France near Toulon. Three crewmembers were killed and seven survived, were captured, and held as POWs. Missing Air Crew Report № 4614. KIA were: 2LT Francis M Ryan , O1703126, NY, Navigator Group burial: SSGT Thomas J Ryan , 16036083, IL, Tail Gunner SSGT Edwin F Vrla , 18176402, TX, Radio Operator ~ Enlisted at Dallas, Texas, September 23, 1942.
