Francis Roelle, 72, of Peetz, died Dec. 12, 1996 in Sidney. A Christian wake was Sunday at the Sacred Heart Church in Peetz. The funeral was today at St. Patrick's Church in Sidney with Father Bob Whipkey officiating. Burial followed in the Peetz Cemetery. Mr. Roelle was born Jan. 30, 1924 to Bernard and Louise (Peters) Roelle in Litchfield, Neb. He attended the Prairie Bell Country School. The family moved to Lorenzo, Neb. in 1936. He graduated from Lorenzo High School in 1941. He married Coletta Fehringer on May 14, 1946 in Peetz. They farmed near Lorenzo for ten years, and then moved to a farm west of Peetz. He retired in 1988 and moved to Peetz. He served on the Lorenzo and Peetz School Boards, the Peetz Consumers Oil Company, the ASCS Boards and the Sacred Heart Church Council. He was a member of the Peetz Lions Club, Knights of Columbus Council No. 1861 of Sidney and the Sidney Elks Lodge No. 1894. He was an avid baseball fan and he enjoyed bowling.He is survived by his wife Coletta of Peetz; seven sons, Jim,Ken, Mike, Wayne, Dennis and wife Ann, Larry and wife Joanne and Keith and wife Sandy, all of Peetz; seven daughters, Beverly Lock and husband Don of Haxtun, Elaine Lock and husband Cliff, Mary Miller and husband Jerry,Gladys Church and husband Curt and Jolene Marshall and husband Steve, all of Sterling, Lynette Janzen and husband Arvin of Brush and Lisa Walter and husband Dennis of Haigler, Neb.; a sister Faye Fehringer and husband Frank of Peetz; 40 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and three step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Cole Roelle.
