Larson, Post 144, American Legion Honor Guard. Walter L. Bosak was born in rural Polk County, Nebraska on August 16, 1918, to Andrew and Julia (Micek) Bosak. He attended country school near Clarks, Nebraska. On March 12, 1942, Walt entered the U.S. Army. He served during World War II and was stationed in New Guinea, Luzon, and was in Tokyo Harbor when the Japanese forces signed the unconditional surrender to end WWII. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Service Medal, the American Service Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was Honorably Discharged on October 28, 1945. He returned to Nebraska and in August of 1958 was united in marriage to Josephine (Krzycki) Borowiak in Silver Creek, Nebraska. They resided in Silver Creek, where Walt farmed and worked for Grosch Irrigation, before moving to Columbus where he went to work for Behlen Manufactuing. They moved to Genoa in the early 1960's. Walt began working for the City of Genoa and later worked for the Genoa Public Schools. Walt was a life-time member of the American Legion and enjoyed going to the sale barn in Albion, hunting, and having fun with the kids.
