Vernice Veronica Loretta Psota, of Ord passed away, September 25, 2009, in St. Paul, Nebraska. She was born Aug. 17, 1922, in Litchfield, Nebraska to Frank and Monica (Kusek) Usasz. On Feb. 21, 1944, she married Edward Psota in Spalding. He died in 1995. Survivors include her sons, Ronald Psota of Omaha, Nebraska, Roger Psota and his wife, Lek, of Papillion, Nebraska, Richard Psota and his wife, Nancy, of St. Paul, Nebraska and Randy Psota and his wife, Diane, of Omaha, Nebraska; daughter, Jeanne Hanson and her husband, Jerry, of Kearney, Nebraska; sister, Irene Schutt of Fort Lupton, Colorado; brothers, Edward Usasz of Australia and Anthony "Tony" Usasz of Grand Island, Nebraska; and numerous nieces and nephews and a host of friends and relatives. She graduated from Bartlett High School. After graduation she was proud to have worked as a waitress and in the Grand Island Ordnance Plant. She married Edward Psota in the Spalding Catholic Chapel (being winter, it was too costly to heat the entire church). They farmed southwest of North Loup until Ed's death after they had been married for more than 51 years. She continued to live on the farm until three years ago, when she moved to Grandview Independent and Assisted Living Center in Ord. While at Grandview, she enjoyed playing cards and dominos when the grandkids would come to visit. While on the farm she enjoyed gardening, her flowers, chickens and pets. She took pride in decorating her yard with flowers in the summer and Christmas lights in the winter. Of the things that mattered most to Vernice was her family. She delighted in spending time with her 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was also noted for hosting annual family reunions. She loved to have all her family gathered around her. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Frank and James Usasz; and sister, Clara Psota.
