Lenora Ann Urbanovsky, passed away peacefully on September 20, 2009, at St. Joseph's Manor. She was 97 years old. A Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Friday, September 25, at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell. A Funeral Mass is set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 26, at St. Mary's Catholic Church. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Church Cemetery Although most of Lenora's generation has passed away, she has numerous younger generation friends in this area. As her many friends know, Lenora's birthday is November 2, 2009, only six weeks away from reaching 98 years old. She was loved and treated very well by everyone at the nursing home, just as she herself had taken care of her grandmother, father, mother-in-law, and father-in-law in their final weeks here on earth. Lenora was known as an excellent seamstress and cook. She made clothes, wedding dresses, formal gowns and custom drapes for many people in the community. Lenora taught her three sons that if you can't say something nice about someone, it's best to say nothing at all. Lenora believed that we are all God's children and should love one another for their being, and overlook anyone's perceived weaknesses. This life-long philosophy and follow through is the reason she was loved by anyone who has ever known her. As a mother, she was always there for her three sons, Harold, Jimmy and Thomas. She was busy all the time preparing three delicious meals a day, gardening, canning vegetables, washing clothes, ironing, making shirts and dresses out of feed sack material, supporting her sons in their boyhood endeavors and reading or singing to and nursing them back to health when they were sick or injured. Remarkably, she still found time to be an active civic volunteer. A loving wife, she was faithful to and supported her husband, Louis, through many hardships they encountered while trying to make a living on the farm. Although money was extremely scarce, they worked hard farming, raising cattle, swine, poultry and gardening, providing sufficiency for their family and enhanced their self-reliance. Lenora Ann Novosad Urbanovsky was an unconditional, loving person and will be missed by the many people whom she loved, and they will miss her deeply. She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Urbanovsky; daughters-in-law, Patsy Kornegay Urbanovsky and Veta Ann Fall Urbanovsky; grandson, Bruce Stephen Urbanovsky; sisters, Lorraine Gossett, Sidonia Urbanovsky, Amy Rhodes, Dorothy Drgac; brothers, Jerry Novosad, Theodore Novosad, Ben Novosad, Raymond Novosad, Alton Novosad; and parents, Tom and Amelia (Kocina) Novosad. Survivors include her sons and daughters-in-law, Harold and Joanne Urbanovsky, of Plantersville, Jimmy and Janie Urbanovsky, of Caldwell and Thomas Urbanovsky, of Caldwell; grandchildren, Jerome and Jane Urbanovsky, of Plantersville, Mark and Terri Urbanovsky, of Ardmore, Okla., James and Becky Urbanovsky, of Caldwell, John and Sandra Urbanovsky, of Caldwell, Lucinda and Mark Boggess, of Chesterton, Ind., Lenora McLaughlin, of Bowling Green, Ky., Laura and Fred Scott, Huntington, Texas, Leah and Paul Blatner, of Chicago, Ill., Georgia Urbanovsky, of Cincinnati, Ohio; 27 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Lillian Lewis; and sisters-in-law, Mildred Novosad and Alma Novosad; numerous other family and beloved friends. Lewis and Lenora both have the last name Urbanovsky with a V. Two of their sons, Harold and Thomas, legally dropped the V to become Urbanosky going forward. But the parents, my great Aunt and Uncle, never changed. All this because Harold and Thomas figured the amount of time over their lifetimes, that not writing the V would save. Besides being silent.
