Shirley Blakely Payne, 86, passed away September 18, 2009 in Lubbock. She was born June 7, 1923 in Snyder, to the late Sherman and Maudie Blakely. She is preceded in death by her husbands, Wiseman Avery and Jessie Lawrence Payne. Survivors include a daughter, Priscilla Martin and husband Pete of Kennedale; son, Richard Avery and wife Patricia of Olympia, Wash.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Islasu Minor of Snyder and Iris Lynn Stewart. Family will receive friends at Sanders Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 until 4 p.m. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Sanders Funeral Home.
