Bio

Born in Poland about 1845 to Stanislaus and Anna (Galus) Matya. His parents were married November 10, 1829. Joseph Matya married Magdalena Augustyn on May 6, 1873 at Leki Gorne/Dolne, Poland. They had six sons and five daughters: Mary, 1871; Catherine 1875; Charles 1877; Agnes c 1879 (all born in Poland) The rest of the children were born in Platte County, Nebraska: John 1881; Anna 1883; Cecilia 1886; Frank 1889; Joseph 1893; Thomas 1896; and Michael 1898.
