Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Trinity Pines Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Gray and Bro. Wilburn Booth officiating. Burial will follow in Chita Cemetery in Trinity County. Mr. ED Morgan went to be with his heavenly Father on Sept. 12, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Morgan was born on Feb. 18, 1916 to Ed and Mattie Brack Morgan. He attended school in Scatter Branch. In 1938, he moved to the Texas South Plains, where he worked as a contract welder during WWII for an oil refinery in Hockley County. In 1949, he accepted the invitation to manage Plains Baptist Youth Camp outside of Floydada, Texas, where he continued for 25 years seeing thousands of young and old make Jesus their personal savior and friend. Retirement introduced him to another ministry, Texas Baptist Builders, volunteering his time and talent building churches and renovating youth camps facilities for "The Glory of The Lord". Mr. Morgan moved to Trinity, Texas in 1992. He was a loyal and very active member of Trinity Pines Baptist Church. He was a Mason and served on the Board of the Baptist General Convention of Texas. He was an ordained Deacon and a Licensed Minister. Mr. Morgan was an avid golfer and a former team player for the Brooklyn Dodgers Farm Team. He also loved hunting, being involved with his church family and church activities, fishing and yard work, and he treasured his family. Mr. Morgan was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 44 years, Robbie Morgan; and nine siblings. He leaves behind to cherish his many wonderful memories, his loving wife of 24 years, Grace Morgan; children, Glenda Carole Morgan, Eddie Don "Thumper" Morgan, Janice Adcock, Jerry Palmer, Betsy Cherry, David Palmer and Emily Rice; 20 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Pines Baptist Church Outreach Ministries, 4769 FM 356, Trinity, TX 75862. Waller-Thornton Funeral Home in charge of arrangements (936) 594-3571.
