Husband of Susie Jane Cofer married 12 April 1903 Henderson County, Texas Published in the Athens Review January 26, 1939 Albert (Cap) Ballow, 79, lifelong resident of Henderson county, son of a pioneer East Texas Couple and the head of one of East Texas' best known and most highly respected families, passed away at the family home in the Walnut Creek community near Athens at 5:00 o'clock Thursday afternoon. He had been critically ill for three days with pneumonia. Funeral services were held at 2:00 o'clock Friday afternoon at the Smith cemetery, a burial plat near the Ballow homestead. The services were conducted by Rev. C.A. West, Methodist pastor of Reagan, Texas. Rev. West was formerly pastor of the Eustace Methodist circuit. Mr. Ballow had been a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. Albert Ballow was born in the Walnut Creek community on January 28th, 1859. He was the only child of the late Mr. and Mrs. John W. Ballow, pioneer residents of Henderson county. Mr. Ballow was twice married and is survived by sixteen living children and a step-son, Summer Kimbrell of Bay City, Texas, who was reared in the Ballow home. The first marriage of the deceased was to Miss Mary Stokes, whose death occurred on March 3rd, 1902. Surviving children born of this marriage are: Oscar Ballow, Levelland, Texas; County Judge John W. Ballow, Athens; Bert Ballow, Waco; Grover Ballow, Athens; Miss Genie Ballow, Athens route; Mrs. Tom Wallace, Athens route and Clarence Ballow, Athens. Mr. Ballow later married Mrs. Susie Kimbrell, the former Miss Susie Cofer. Mrs. Ballow and the following children born to this union survive: Mrs. Hollis Hines and Mrs. C.Y. Coleman, both of Trinidad; Mrs. Charles Seeber, Marshall; Mrs. R.A. Laney and Frank Ballow, Athens; Harris and Farris Ballow (twins) of Malakoff and Athens respectively; George Ballow, Athens and Tom Ballow, Bay City, Texas. A number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive. Pallbearers named were: Bartlett Wallace, Bryan Wallace, Dan Ballow, John Paul (Bo) Ballow, Jim Ballow and Jack Ballow.
