Bio

Myrtle Leola (Garhart) Poffenbarger of Redmond died at a Bend adult care facility May 29, 2001. She was 86. Mrs. Poffenbarger was born July 24, 1914, in Neligh, Nebraska, to Charles and Bertha (Bates) Garhart. She was raised in Wyoming. She married Ervin Poffenbarger in December 1931. He died in 1999. They moved to Lower Bridge near Redmond in 1942, and then moved to Redmond in 1952. Mrs. Poffenbarger was a former member of the Rebekah Lodge. She enjoyed gardening and her family. Survivors include three daughters, Lois Pfister of Hillsboro, Donna Kroeker of Sheridan and Kay Peterson of Forest Grove; three sons, Charles of Pleasanton, Calif., Jack of Redmond and Douglas of Boulder Creek, Calif. 32 grandchildren; and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband.
