Joseph Willard Kindler, son of Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Kindler was born in Jewell county Kansas on January first 1883, and passed to that better world September 27, 1919, at the age of 36 years 8 months and 26 days. During his short stay here he lived near his parents’ home, the last few being on his own farm just east of Esbon. He was always a kind and loving Son and brother. He was always ready to do his part. To know him was to be his friend. Honesty goodness kindness and to lend a helping hand was “Joe” himself. His illness was brief, having taken ill only last Sunday. His suffering was untold. Saturday morning Sept. 27 he was taken to Beloit where it was thought an operation might save his life but he passed away that same day at 4:20 p. m. Joseph leaves to mourn his untimely death his parents, three sisters, Mrs. Dealia Hajny, Misses, Christie and Millie Kindler, four brothers, George, Charlie, Frank and Ernie all of Esbon. The beautiful floral offering and the large gathering for the funeral speak of to the high, esteem in which he was held in the community. Joe has gone and will be missed by all who knew him. Funeral was held at the Esbon U. B. church conducted by J. D. Lamb assisted by Rev. Grims. (Esbon Times, Esbon, Kansas, October 9, 1919) Contributor: Jim Kennedy (49629531)
