Myrtie Reid Allen Born in Blum, TX on Dec. 2, 1912 Departed on Jul. 11, 2009 and resided in Athens, TX. Visitation: Tuesday, Jul. 14, 2009 Service: Wednesday, Jul. 15, 2009 Cemetery: Heath Cemetery Myrtie Reid Allen, 96, of Athens passed from this life on Saturday, July 11, 2009, at East Texas Medical Center in Athens. Born December 2, 1912 in Blum the daughter of J. L. and Martha (Johnston) Reid, Myrtie was a lifetime resident of Hill County and resided in Athens the past three years. On October 29, 1932 she married Alvin Orval Vinson in Whitney and he preceded her in death February 20, 1951. On December 24, 1952 she married Joe Walters in Itasca and he preceded her in death November 8, 1958. She later married Raymond Allen on December 16, 1972 and he preceded her in death September 16, 2002. She was a member of College Hill Church of Christ in Hillsboro. For many years she was employed with Hill County Electric Coop, Inc. in Itasca, now Hillco Coop, Inc., retiring in 1975. Also preceding her in death were her parents, four brothers, and three sisters. Survivors include two sons, Durwood (Vince) Vinson and wife, Claudia, and Alvin M. (Mike) Vinson and wife, Carol Lynn; five grandchildren; Michael Vinson and wife, Sharon, Jerry Vinson and wife, Jennifer, Mark Vinson and wife, Tonia, Alvin Vinson and wife, Rebecca, and Melissa Abadie and husband, Jeff; 11 great-grandchildren, Whitney Lewis and husband, Rusty, Natalie, Kyndal, Justin, Jayden, Emily, Amber, Lauren, and Asher Vinson, and Avery and Logan Abadie; one sister-in-law, Bessie Reid; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Memorials may be made to the Heath Cemetery Association, 5459 FM 933 North, Whitney, TX 76692.
