Idaho Free Press Nampa, Idaho Monday, September 4, 1972 George H. Shaw NAMPA--Funeral services for George H. Shaw, age 87, of Nampa Route 2, who died Friday at his home, will be conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Meridian Second Ward, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, with Bishop C. Jay Thurgood, officiating. Interment will follow at the Meridian Cemetery, with services and interment under the direction of the Alsip Funeral Chapel, of Nampa. Friends may call at the Alsip Chapel on Monday, on Tuesday until noon, and at the Meridian Second Ward Church from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m., on Tuesday. Mr. Shaw was born April 12, 1885, at Lehi, Utah. His early childhood was spent at Lehi, and at Raymond, Alberta, Canada. He attended Rick's Academy (which is now Pocks College). In 1906, he was called to serve a mission in Tennessee, for the L.D.S. Church. Upon returning from this mission, he served as a sugar beet fieldman for the Utah-Idaho Sugar Company, at Gooding, Ontario, Ore., and at Nampa. In later years, he purchased a farm east of Nampa. He was a member of the Meridian Second Ward, L.D.S Church. Mr. Shaw was married to Belva Huff on Dec. 24, 1913, at the Salt Lake City L.D.S. Temple. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Belva Shaw, of Nampa Route 2; one son, Harlan Shaw of Layton, Utah; one daughter, Mrs. Max (Mildred) Whitaker, of Nampa; by 10 grandchildren and by five great-grandchildren.
