The Topeka Capital Journal, Topeka, KS, December 15, 1984, Page 35 Fredrick P. Thomas Freehold, N.J.--Services were Dec. 10 at C.H.T. Clayton and Son Funeral Home, Adelphia, N.J. for Fredrick P. Thomas, 67, Freehold, a former Topekan who was lately injured when he was struck by a car in Freehold Township. He was pronounced dead on arrival at a Freehold hospital. He was walking home from a newly-acquired retirement job and was crossing a highway when he was struck, Freehold police said. Mr. Thomas was a retired senior parole officer with the Nebraska State Board of Corrections, Lincoln. He moved in 1958 to Kearney, Nev., where he was assistant superintendent of the Boys Training School. He later was promoted and moved to Lincoln, Neb., where he was state board of corrections senior parole officer until he retired in 1982. He previously taught music in public schools at Hoyt and was the youngest man to become principal at Wetmore Elementary School. He later was coordinator of adjunctive therapies at Topeka Veterans Administration Hospital and at Larned State Hospital. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He was born March 5, 1917, at Linwood, Neb., the son of Fred F. and Anna Wesley Thomas. He attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln before he graduated from Washburn University in Topeka. Mr. Thomas was a musician and a member of Elks and Masonic lodges. He was a member of First Christian Church at Larned. His wife Mrs. Mary Agro Thomas survives. Burial was in Calverton National Veterans Cemetery, Calverton, Long Island, N.Y. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jefferson Market Garden, a public viewing garden in Greenwich Village, N.Y., in care of Jerry Mendell, chairman, 18 W. 9th, New Your, N.Y. 10011.
