Bio

Funeral rites for J.A. Gulledge, 87, well known farmer of Edom who was found dead at his home Tuesday, were held Wednesday, April 19, at 2 o'clock at the Edom Methodist church. Burial was at Edom. Mr. Gulledge was born in Mississippi and had been a resident of Van Zandt county for seventy-six years. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Hallie Ellis of Tyler; three sons, W.D. Gulledge of Abilene, J.C. Gulledge of Edom, M.A. Gulledge of Hanley and seventeen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Published in the Athens Review April 27, 1944
