Bio

Funeral services for Jodie M. Hill, 92, of Alba, were held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, October 24, 2004, with Rev. Robert Stovall officiating. Burial followed at Salem Cemetery near Alba. Pallbearers were Larry Looney, Larry Northcutt, Robert Shiflet, Arthur Ray Henson, Gilbert Rodriguez, and Phillip Sadler. Mr. Hill died at Presbyterian Hospital of Greenville on Thursday, October 21. He was born August 31, 1912, at Ginger, to William Henry and Nannie Carol Hodges Hill. He married Audrey Carol Brummett on September 30, 1949, in Emory. He was a veteran of the United States Army Air Force, a retired teacher and a rancher. He was a Baptist, and a member of the Retired Teachers Association. Survivors include his wife, Audrey, two sons, Joe Hill and Pat Hill, both of Alba; three grandchildren, Melody Hill, Sherree Pruitt, and John Hill; four great-grandchildren, Taylor Pruitt, Wesley Pruitt, Madison Hill and MaKinna Hill. He was preceded in death by seven brothers. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Rains Elementary School Library. Wilson-Orwosky Funeral Home of Emory was in charge of arrangements.
