Lillian M. Smith Graveside services for Lillian M. Smith, 97, of Huntington, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Whitehouse Cemetery with Reverend Lamar Denby and Reverend Michael Reese officiating. Mrs. Smith was born April 22, 1907, in Angelina County, Texas, and she died Monday, July 12, 2004, in a local nursing facility. Mrs. Smith was a wife, homemaker and mother. She was the second of the 12 children of Robert and Missouri Ivy, and was a caregiver to her family. She was a member of Highway Baptist Church in Huntington. Survivors include her sisters, Velma Ivy Cameron of Huntington, Nellie Lakey of Keithville, Louisiana and Mozell Coton of Lawton, Oklahoma; brothers, Dale Ivy of Nederland and Glenn Morris Ivy of Coldspring; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Smith of November 28, 1976; son, James Kenneth Smith on October 20, 1961; mother, Missouri Rowin Ivy on January 12, 1968; father, Robert D. Ivy on October 18, 1980; and sisters, Lois Bickham on October 29, 1990, Georgia Walker on June 11, 1993, Burney Lee Cuculic on December 23, 1996, Morene Cleveland on November 18, 1997, Opal Hall on June 14, 1999 and Ruth Schoebroek on July 5, 1999.
