Elwood Stetson officiating. Burial will follow in East Mount Cemetery in Greenville with Glen Steed officiating, under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home. Mr. Worthen passed away Dec. 22, 2008, at Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. He was born on July 30, 1926, in Commerce to the late Robert and Fairy Mae Worthen. He was raised in Greenville and graduated from Greenville High School. He attended East Texas State University in Commerce for one year. After school, he was employed by Greenville National Exchange Bank where he retired as vice president. After retiring in 1989, he worked for Bob Adams Real Estate in Greenville. Mr. Worthen moved to Tyler in 1998 where he worked at the Eyecare Center until his death. He was a member of Grace Community Church in Tyler. In addition to his parents, Mr. Worthen was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Worthen, and his sister, Violet Pruett. He is survived by a loving family including his wife of 60 years, Sarah Helen Worthen; two sons, Brent Worthen of Sugarland and Link Worthen and wife Rose Mary of Fort Worth; daughter, Ginny Wakeland and husband Jim of Houston; and grandchildren, Rachel Worthen, Lydia Worthen, and Edward Worthen, all of Tyler.
