Bio
Jacob Jacobsen, a pioneer resident of the Boelus community, died Tuesday at his home in Boelus. Mr. Jacobsen, who was 76 years of age, spent the winter at his children's homes, but in the summer preferred to live in town where he could visit with old friends. On Monday evening he had been to see his sick friend, Anton Hansen, whom he visits quite often. He went home at about 10 p.m. Mr. Hansen states. After retiring he had later gotten up and turned on the light and had presumably died a short time after. The night marshal, noticing a light at Mr. Jacobsen's at midnight, and fearing something was wrong, investigated, and noticed Mr. Jacobsen had sunk over to his bedside in a sitting position, with his head resting on his hand. He notified Mr. Jacobsen's son-in-law, Albert Koehler, and Pete Brandstrup, Jr., and Harry Seeber. The latter two were still working at the flour mill. They entered the house and found the old gentleman dead. Dr. P. M. Pedersen was summoned and gave heart failure as the cause of his death. Mr. Jacobsen had been in very good health following an operation at Omaha last summer, and friends who talked to him just a few hours before were shocked at his sudden death.
