Alvin Roy Franek, age 67 of Austin died Wednesday, June 28, 1989, in a San Antonio hospital. Funeral services for Mr. Franek were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, West. Mr. Franek was born October 16, 1921, in Needville. He had lived in Harlingen for 20 years and in Austin for the past 16 years. He was a retired bookkeeper. He was a member of S.P.J.S.T. Lodge #153 of La Salle. Mr. Franek married Margaret Gerik January 13, 1943 in Uvalde. She preceded him in death March 7, 1981. Survivors include a son, Randy Franek of Garland; one daughter, Mrs. John (Nicki) Moore of San Antonio and a son-in-law John Moore of San Antonio, one granddaughter, Andrea. Pallbearers were: David Zatopek, Jim Elles, Doug Ledkins, Charlie Field, Lloyd Kulak and John Young. The West News, West, Texas, July 6, 1989 - Pg 4
