Obituary, Howard County Herald, Thu, 2 May 1918, page 1. Bessie Mabel Brown was born at Sat. Paul, Nebr., July 2, 1889, and passed from this life at her home in Elba, Neb., April 19, 1918. She was married to Victor V. Vose at St. Paul, Neb., Sept. 9, 1915. The funeral was held from the United Brethren church at Elba April 23rd. Elder Adams of the church of God conducted the services. Bessie was a sweet and beautiful character, a devout christian since childhood, a devoted lover of home and home ties. Only the good and pure of life appealed to her. She leaves to mourn her early departure a husband and infant son, a mother and brother and many other relatives and friends who will sadly miss the loved one. Internment was made in Elmwood cemetery, St. Paul. [Note: Multiple obituaries in the Nebraska newspapers give date of death as April 19, 1918 which differs from what is on the gravestone.]
