Grand Island Independent 22 Jan, 2003 Sharon Tuma WOOD RIVER -- Sharon Tuma, 48, of Wood River died Sunday, Jan. 19, 2003, at her home in Wood River. Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in St. Paul. The Rev. Ray Kosmicki will officiate. Burial will be in the Elmwood Cemetery at St. Paul. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Jacobsen-Greenway Funeral Home in St. Paul, with a 7 p.m. wake. Mrs. Tuma was born Feb. 8, 1954, at Palmer to Clarence and Lucienne (Dethlefs) Michalski. Survivors of the immediate family include her husband, James Tuma; her mother of St. Paul; a son and daughter-in-law, James Jr. and Karma Tuma of Ogallala; a daughter and son-in-law, Valerie and Rick Loebig of Lincoln; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Ann and Ron McKown of Grand Island and Elaine and Jim Watson of Dannebrog. Survivors also include a grandson, Trevin Tuma of Ogallala. Sharon received her early education at rural school near Chapman. She attended her freshman year of high school at Grand Island Northwest High School. She then attended St. Paul High School, graduating in 1972. On July 22, 1972, she was united in marriage to James Tuma at Elba. The couple first made their home in St. Paul, later moving to Ogallala. The couple made Ogallala their home for a number of years and Sharon was employed by the Sixth Street Deli. In May 2001, the couple moved to Wood River. For the last two years, Sharon was employed in the surgical sterilization department at the St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island. She was a member of the Catholic faith. She enjoyed quilting, raising flowers and painting pictures. She was preceded in death by her father. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association or family's choice.
