From The Wolbach Messenger, October 17, 1968, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: Mrs. Pauline Stepp Funeral Saturday – Mrs. Pauline Stepp, widow of Joseph Stepp and a former chef of the Yancey Hotel, died Wednesday evening in a Grand Island Hospital. She had been in ill health for many months. Mrs. Stepp had lived all of her life in central Nebraska. She was born December 14, 1891 at Elba to Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Konkolewski. She grew to womanhood there. In 1909 at St. Paul, she and Mr. Stepp were married. They began their home at St. Paul. Two years later, they moved to Wolbach, where Mr. Stepp operated a meat market. He died in 1936. It was in 1942 that Mrs. Stepp moved to Grand Island. She became the chef at the Yancey Hotel and was employed there for 18 years. She had retired from her regular work five years ago. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church. Her only affiliations was with the Altar Society of her church. Mrs. Stepp is survived by four sons, Max of Greeley, LeRoy of Grand Island, Clayton from Pomona, California, and Donald of Garden Grove, California, one daughter, Mrs. John McGee of Santa Ana, California; five brothers, John, Charles, Stephen and Thomas Konkolewski, all of Chicago and Joe of Ord; three sisters, Mrs. Joe Kaminski of Denver, Mrs. Joe Dunn of Grand Island; Mrs. Francis Elliott of Reno, Nevada, 11 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, her brother and two sisters.
