Ferdinandt (Fred) F. Haruda, a Nebraska baker for 50 years, died at Hastings, Sunday, Aug. 2nd after an extended illness. He was 75. Mr. Haruda had been in the bakery business in Superior for 10 years before his retirement several years ago, and before that had owned bakeries at Wolbach for 10 years and St. Paul, Nebr., for 29 years. Born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, May 28, 1889, Mr. Haruda came to the United States at the age of 16 years and after serving an apprenticeship in baking at Baltimore, Md., he came to Nebraska. He was united in marriage to Anna Eret of Sargent, Nebr., on May 28, 1912 and to this union were born two sons and one daughter, Fred J. Haruda of Portland, Ore., Dr. Joseph S. Haruda of Ellensburg, Wash., and Mrs. Oliver Nielsen (Anne) of Kansas City. He is survived by his wife; three children; one brother, Peter Haruda and one sister, Sophia Christensen, both of St. Paul. Graveside services were held at St. Paul at 2 p.m. and interment was there. The Wolbach Messenger, August 6, 1964, transcribed by Linda Berney
