Bio

The Phonograph, October 10, 1912, page 1, transcribed by Linda Berney: ....[details of suicide]....Thomas Ambroz was born in Bohemia in 1863, where he resided until 1884, when he came to America, coming direct to St. Paul, and since that time he has resided in this county. In 1891 he was married to Miss Josie Jobe and to this union were born three children, one boy and two girls. The boy died some years ago. One of the girls, Emma, is the wife of Chas. Lanka and Miss Mary is at home. He was a hard worker and well liked by all his large circle of acquaintances. We have heard a number of men comment on his strange act, and none of them can account for it. They all express the same opinion, that he must have been suffering unbearable pain to do such a deed. He was a member of two lodges: The C.Z.B.J. and the W.O.W, the former had charge of the funeral services at the house and the latter lodge conducted the services at the cemetery. The funeral was held on Wednesday, from the late home, interment being made in Elmwood cemetery. He carried two thousand dollars insurance and otherwise left his family well provided for. A large number of friends and neighbors accompanied the remains to their last resting place, thereby showing that he had many good friends in this life. We desire to extend sympathy to the bereaved family in their hour of dark and sudden sorrow.
