David Clark Conder 1913-2009 Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday Aug. 1 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Bishop for David Clark Conder. Burial will be at the East Line Street Cemetery in Bishop. Born April 1, 1913 in American Fork, Utah, Clark died July 25, 2009 at his home in Bishop, where he lived since 1953. Clark married Rhea Gillman on June 14, 1934 and they were together for 63 years before her passing in July 1997. The most important thing in Clark's life was the love he had for his family. In his later years, he enjoyed the companionship of his faithful dog, Basil. He owned and operated Conder's Department Store and Conder's Shoe Store until he retired in 1985. Clark's interest in farming and gardening led to a farm in Yuma, Ariz. where he grew citrus. He loved to fish and hunt in his earlier years and he was always a spectator at all sporting events, whether he knew any of the players or not. Clark was an avid trumpet player at a young age. During and after high school he played trumpet and sang with the local band. He could always be found at the Monday night concerts in the Bishop City Park. For several years he served on the Tri-County Fair Board and was an active member in Rotary, Elks and the LDS Church. "Gramps' love for life and people was always evident," the family said. "He never met a stranger." He was preceded in death by his wife, Rhea, and son, Jerry. He is survived by his daughter, Valerie Needham; daughter-in-law, Judy Cooper; granddaughters and their spouses, Terri Dean and Ken, Laurie Reichmuth and Joe, Danelle Dickerson and Kevin and Melanie Livingston and Rod; grandsons and their spouses, Robert Conder and Michelle and Brand Conder and Jill; great-granddaughters and their spouses, Brandie Boothe and Jeff, Sara Dickerson, Lauren, Rachel, Brooke and Ellie Conder; great-grandsons, Chris Higginbotham, Kyle Vraden-burg, Ryan, Lucas and Adam Reichmuth, Darren and David Dickerson, Chase and Nathan Livingston, Benjamin Hayden and Ethan Conder; great-great-grandchildren, Michael and Morgan Boothe; and special friends, Ivan and Jan Needham and Chris Anderson.
