The Gilmer Mirror Gilmer, Texas, Thursday, September 14, 1967 p2 col 1 Opal Briggs Funeral services for Mrs. Tony Opal Briggs of Houston and native of Gilmer were held Sep. 4 at Croley Chapel with Mr. Charles Turner as officiating minister. Burial was in City Cemetery with Croley Funeral Home directing arrangements. Pallbearers were Ira Ashmore, Ed Bowen, Veernon Nobles, Bill Emberlin, Bill Jones and Bill Dean. Mrs. Briggs died Set. 3 in Houston after long illness. At her death she was 78 years, 3 months and 10 days old. She resided here untill six years ago. Mrs. Briggs was a music instructor here for many years. She was a member of the Church of Christ. Her husband, Joe Briggs, died a number of years ago. Surviving are nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Cay Richardson of Gilmer.
