s/o Josiah Hamilton Dillard and Victoria Emily Buckner Dillard
Kermit Curtis Dillard was actually born near Keller in the Chickasaw Nation, Indian Territory. This is further verified by the affidavit of his mother, Victoria Dillard, as made before the Dawes Commission in the application for enrollment in the Choctaw Nation for Kermit, Choctaw Newborn census card 1024. Keller is a ghost town now and the closest township in present-day Oklahoma is Hewitt. Keller was located in Section 11, Township 4S, Range 2W. The town of Hewitt is located in Section 35, Township 4S, Range 2W. The town of Dillard, where Kermit's father, Josiah Hamilton Dillard, built his first cabin and settled in this part of the Chickasaw Nation, was located in Section 21, Township 4S, Range 2W. The town of Dillard (which is named after Josiah Hamilton Dillard) is located 1 mile due north of Hewitt. The old town of Keller was located about 5 miles northeast of what is still the small, unincorporated town of Dillard. All that remains of Keller today is the old Keller cemetery. All of these towns are/were located in what is today Carter County, OK.
