Mary E. Johnston married Alexander Duval Cooper on November 29, 1960 in Lewis County, Tenn. They had one son: Alexander Duvall Cooper, Jr. Private, Company H, 3rd Clack's Tennessee Infantry-CSA Married Mary (Mollie) E. Johnston on Nov. 28, 1860; Lewis Co. Marriage Book. When Capt.Theodore Cooper was organizing his company, both his twin brothers, Alexander and Samuel joined him.They were encamped at Bowling Green,Ky. Alexander became ill with the measles and his brother sent him back home on furlough. He never recovered and died in the summer. Mollie Johnston, who was said to have been his cousin, bore his only child, a son, after he died. when the boy was 5 she married Fountain E.P. McBride. The son was Alexander Cooper he died 1862. Samuel Gwin Cooper was a prisoner of war at Camp Douglas, where he died. He was buried with 6,000 other CSA soldiers at the "Confederate Mount" at Oak Woods Cemetery, Chicago, Cook Co., Ill. "In Memory of Alexander D. Cooper who departed this life July 10, 1861 aged 22 years and 10 months, being in the Volunteer service of the State and, a member of Captain R.T. Cooper's Company." Son of Col. Robert Melville and Catherine Cooper Cooper. When her son was 5 years old - Mary E. Johnston married Fountain E. P. McBride
