Ingram, Robert Earl "Bill" JACKSONVILLE - Funeral services for Robert Earl "Bill" Ingram, age 88, of Jacksonville, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 22, 2009, at Autry Funeral Home Chapel, Jacksonville, with Mr. Glen Cogburn and Mr. James Spivey officiating. Burial will follow at Jarratt Cemetery, Jacksonville. He was born Feb. 14, 1921, in Quitman to Rhonda and Earl Ingram. Mr. Ingram passed away Sunday, July 19, 2009, in Jacksonville. He is preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and five sisters. Mr. Ingram is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary Ingram of Jacksonville; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Mike Ford; granddaughter and husband, Amanda and Jason Carrell; grandson, Robert "Bobby" Ford; great-granddaughters, Summer and Elizabeth Carrell, all of Zavalla; and sister, Mrs. Madie Moore of Quitman; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Mr. Ingram was a retired teacher, principal and coach. He worked in Jacksonville and LaPoynor schools. Coach Ingram led the Indians to five district titles and a state championship in 1956. He coached the LaPoynor Flyers to three state titles and two more state tournaments. Mr. Ingram served as a medical supply sergeant for the United States Army Air Corps in World War II. Mr. Ingram played high school ball at Quitman and college ball at East Texas State Teachers College. He played professional baseball with the Fort Worth Cats and the Jacksonville Jax. Pallbearers will be Jason Carrell, Mike Ford, Charles Ray, Randy Marion, Tony Foster and Bruce Stripling. Honorary pallbearers will be the Jacksonville basketball teams of 1949 through 1956 and the LaPoynor basketball teams of 1968 through 1975. The family wants to thank the staff members of Bonner Place for their compassionate care during Mr. Ingram's final months. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at Autry Funeral Home, Jacksonville. Published in the Tyler Morning Telegraph on 7/21/2009
