Bio

Mrs. Jennie Beaty Has Passed Away Mrs. Jennie Beaty, 68 years old, widow of the late D. M. Beaty, died Saturday morning in the St. Anthony hospital, following an operation a week before. Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Christian church in Jones; burial was in the Odd Fellows cemetery. Rev. John T. Thompson of Luther was in charge of the services. OBITUARY Jennie Florence Baum was born on August 7, 1866, at Delphi, Indiana; departed this life October 20, 1934; age 68 years, 2 months and 13 days. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Francis Baum, and a descendent of Daniel Baum, one of the first settlers of Carroll county, Indiana. When she was very young her parents moved to Iowa, where they lived for a few years, then moved to Kansas and later to Oklahoma, living in what was then known as Indian Territory. February 28, 1884, she was united in marriage to E. A. Jones at Claremore, I. T. {Indian Territory}. He preceded her in death March 8, 1908. To this union seven children were born; Mrs. Leo. E. Goff, Mrs. Grace Kelsey, Mrs. Pearl Keyser, Mrs. Ora Dunaway, Frederick M. Jones, Mrs. Adda Morrison, and Mrs. Berenice Mae Lytle. March 24, 1911, she was united in marriage to D. M. Beaty of Jones who preceded her in death Feb. 8, 1925. She lived at Jones several years, and here she made many friends before she moved to Oklahoma City in 1922. It was her intention to pass this year with her daughters, dividing the time among them, but sickness interfered. Since July she had been under the care of the doctor, who rendered her all the relief that was possible to give. She leaves four daughters, sixteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and four sisters: Mrs. Ollie Reading of Gentry, Ark; Mrs. Ora Pritchard of Portland, Oregon; Mrs. Ida Kirk of Gentry, Ark., and Mrs. Dora Winfield of Kansas, Okla., and one brother, W. L. Baum of Winfield, Kansas. The two last named sisters were present at the funeral services. Mrs. Beaty's life had been spent mostly on the frontier, but in spite of all the hardships attendant to the pioneers she was a most lovable and affectionate woman. Many people have spoken of her as one of the best women they have ever known, and their visits in her home remain as fine recollections. Her passing was somewhat premature, but we have faith in our Father "who doeth all things well," that a life that has been spent in sacrifice for others will receive its just reward.
