OMAHA Agnes Vanek, 95, of Omaha, formerly of Wahoo, died July 8 at Golden Livingcenter in Omaha. Vanek was born on Dec. 24, 1913 to Peter and Mary (Brabec) Rezek in Valparaiso. She grew up in Weston and went to school there. She married Emil Vanek on Jan. 5, 1931 in Prague. They lived on a farm near Prague for a few years and in the late 1930s moved to Wahoo where Emil operated a poultry business. After her husband died in 1968, she went to work at the Wahoo Bakery for several years in the 1970s. She moved to Omaha in 1990 to live with her daughter and son-in-law. Failing health caused her to move to the Golden Livingcenter in March of 2009. She had been a parishioner at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and attended Holy Ghost Catholic Church in Omaha. She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary Post 4502 and the Royal Neighbors of America. Her husband, her daughter and brothers and sisters preceded her in death. She is survived by her son-in-law, Frank Orsi of Omaha; granddaughters, Gwynette Orsi of Denver, Colo., Lorette Orsi of Omaha; grandsons, Frank Orsi Jr., Steve Orsi, Mark and wife Pam Orsi, Michael Orsi, all of Omaha; eight great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marge White of Washington. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, July 13 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Wahoo with Rev. Lothar Gilde officiating. Interment will be at St. Francis Cemetery in Wahoo. Casket bearers are Frank Jr., Steve, Mark, Mike, Brian and Matt Orsi. Visitation will be held Sunday, July 12 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Svoboda Funeral Home, Rosary will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at the church.
