Bio

Doris Mae Lewis, 85, of Arkansas City, died Monday, May 4, 2009, at her residence. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at the Rindt-Erdman Funeral Home in Arkansas City. Interment will follow in the Memorial Lawn Cemetery. Doris was born Feb. 28, 1924, in Sapulpa, Okla., to William M. Rose and Sallie (Thomas) Rose. She attended Sapulpa schools, graduating from high school in 1942. On Aug. 9, 1942, she married Kenneth R. Lewis in Sapulpa, and the couple made their home in Arkansas City. Doris was a homemaker. Doris was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ and LS BLF&E. Survivors include her husband, Kenneth, of the home; sons, Gary Lewis and wife, Janey, of Skiatook, Okla., Rick Lewis and wife, Karen, of Arkansas City; brother, William Rose, of Tulsa; grandchildren, Holly McCloud and husband, TJ, of Nashville, Tenn., Bret Lewis and wife, Jaimy, of Arlington, Va., Kirk Lewis and fiance, Cassie, of Arkansas City, and Kyle Lewis and wife, Lauren, of Winfield. She was preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and three brothers. A memorial has been established with the Hope Harbor Children's Home. Contributions may be made through the funeral home.
