Mary was the youngest daughter of Benjamin Lawrence Jordan and Elizabeth Redding Jordan. When Maxine was 19, she went alone by bus to Los Angeles, California, to marry the love of her life, Arvie E. King, who had been her "across the highway" neighbor. Besides her parents, Mary Maxine was predeceased in death by her husband, Arvie King and their infant son, Larry Phillip King; her sisters, Edna Allman, Mae Troncale, and Clara Marie Nightengale; brothers, Ben Lee Jordan and William "Bill" Clark Jordan and nephew, James Holland. Survivors include her nephew, Rodney Nightengale; two nieces, Betty Davis and Helen Holick, and her very dear friend, Charles Wendt. Funeral service at the funeral home Thursday, with Rev. Fred Herb Stallknecht, retired United Methodist Minister with music provided by Fred Mehl. Burial to immediately follow the service in Guedry Cemetery, Batson.
