Mrs. RUTH (DOBYNS) HERRINGTON was the daughter of Oscar Dobyns Jr. and Mrs. Nora Anna (Selzer) Dobyns. --------------------- Herrington, Ruth, 83, retired University of Tulsa librarian, died Wednesday in Everett, Wash. Graveside service 10 a.m. Monday, Memorial Park Cemetery. Ninde Woodland. (Tulsa World) --------------------- HERRINGTON -- Ruth, 83, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2006 in Kirkland, WA. Daughter of Oscar and Nora Dobyns Jr. Ruth was Valedictorian of Bradley High. Attending Oklahoma University she earned a Bachelors degree in library science, with honors. Her career at McFarlin Library of the University of Tulsa spanned 25 years, as periodicals and research librarian. In retirement, she volunteered at Gilcrease. Along the way, she patronized local artists, including Ben Harjo who became influential contributors to the American Indian Art Movement. She collected art from the movement and of course, books. Ruth is survived by her sister, Doris Kingsbery; her sons, Stephen and David; and grandsons, Keith and Scott. Her husband, Homer, passed away in 1981 and she will rest next to him. Visitation will be 1 p.m. - 8 p.m., Sunday, June 25, 2006 at Ninde Woodland Funeral Home 5757 S. Memorial Drive. Graveside service for Mrs. Herrington will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, June 26, 2006 at Memorial Park in Tulsa, 5111 S. Memorial Drive. Ninde Woodland Chapel.
