Bio
Lillian Braziel Gilchrest, 91, of Gatesville, passed away Thursday, July 9, 2009, at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. July 12, at the Gatesville Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. M.V. Hemphill officiating. Burial will follow at Restland Cemetery. The family will receive visitors 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 10, at the funeral home. Lillian was born in Coryell County, Texas, to the late J.L. (Lige) and Dollie Love Braziel. She attended schools in Gatesville. Lillian married Louie Gilchrest on June 9, 1934. She was a very hard working lady and worked for many cleaners in the area. Lillian worked in the laundry department of Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco for over 30 years. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1987. Lillian is survived by daughters, JoAnn Persinger, Anita Lofland and husband, Leon, and Vina Morro and husband, Lou; sons, Harry and Larry Gilchrest; 28 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren; 53 great-great-grandchildren; four great-great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruby Gilchrest and Edith Campbell; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special, longtime friend, Mary Gonzales.
