Bio

Ann Mary Johnson Whaley, daughter of Edward and Agnes Johnson, was born July 26, 1908 on a farm near River Falls, Wisc. And died Nov. 29, 1983 at the Midland Community Hospital in Papillion, Neb. Ann attended school in the Cherma District an later a parochial school in Wahoo., Neb. On Feb. 20, 1930, Ann was married to Sid Whaley at Lincoln. Their first home was on Stop Table. Later they resided in Sand Valley, Merna and other communities. Then, in 1942, they moved to a farm they had purchased in the Triumph District. Here they made their home for 35 years. All four of their children attended school there and graduated from Callaway School. The children of this union were Arlen, Beverly, Valerie and Rodney. Ann helped with the work inside and outside of the home, loved to garden, cook and make a happy home. Later, when the children matured and left home, she did practical nursing at the Good Samaritan Home and at the Callaway Hospital. Ann also assisted numerous times during childbirth and sickness in the neighborhood. She will be missed by her relatives and friends. Preceding her in death were her parents, an infant brother, her oldest brother, William Royce and her foster parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Dvorak. Survivors include her husband, Sid Whaley of Callaway; four children: Arlen of Ansley; Beverly Fellers of Lexington: Valerie of Martinez of Los Angeles, Calif.; Rodney of Omaha; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and many relatives and friends. Mass of the Resurrection was held Saturday, Dec. 3 at St. Boniface Church, Callaway. Father Lou Nollette officiated and Mrs. Dale Farmer was organist with Mrs. Frances Ridder, soloist. Pallbearers were Steve Dean, Fred Whaley, Mike Pandorf, Larry Nelson, Jerald Cantrell, Dean Dodge and Edward Anderson. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Callaway.
