Bio

"PRINCETON, Mo. -- Dora Ellen George, 89, Princeton, died Friday, Feb. 7, 1997, at a Princeton health-care center. She was born Aug. 23, 1907, on the family farm southwest of Princeton. Mrs. George was raised in Mercer County, Mo., and graduated from Princeton High School. On Feb. 28, 1928, she married Samuel A. George. He died in 1983. After their marriage, they moved to Davenport, Iowa, where they lived for more than 20 years. They returned to the family farm in 1951. Mrs. George was active in the Democratic Party in Mercer County and served on election boards in Washington Township for several years. She had lived at the health care center since 1995. Also preceding Mrs. George in death were her parents, Isaac and Mattie Shockey; and three brothers, Cleo, Ira and Earl Shockey. Surviving are a son, Donald of Jefferson, Ia.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Graveside service and burial will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Salem Cemetery, southwest of Princeton."
