George Pitz ONALASKA, Wis. — George Pitz, 54, of Onalaska died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center from complications related to diabetes. He was born in La Crosse on Jan. 24, 1953, to John J. and Marjorie (Kolbo) Pitz Jr. He graduated from Aquinas High School in 1971 and from WWTI with a degree in accounting. He worked at Handy Builders in the Village and at Ace Hardware for over 30 years. He was a member of the Optimist Club. George was an avid outdoorsman. He loved to go camping at Money Creek Haven Campground. He also went hunting, fishing, golfing and bowling. George married Christine Bina on Sept. 11, 1982, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. George is survived by his wife, Christine; daughter, Catherine; a sister, Jackie Lee of Las Vegas; and a brother, Richard (Colleen) Pitz. He is also survived by nieces and nephews, Jeff Lee; Carmen, Travis and Justin Pitz; Sarah O'Heron; Maggie, Robbie and Margo Bina. He was preceded in death by his parents. A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church 1333 S. 13th St. The Rev. Lawrence Berger will officiate with burial to be at a later date. Family and friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the church. The Blaschke & Schneider Funeral Homes are assisting the family.
