JEAN ANN BENNETT, beloved wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend, passed away unexpectedly on June 30, 2009 in Houston, Texas. Jean was born Jean Ann Doolan to parents Leda and Mike Doolan on January 20, 1941 in Houston. Jean grew up with two sisters, Judy and Betty Doolan. Jean married her sweetheart, Jimmy Bennett in 1958. In August of 2008, Jean and Jim had the pleasure of celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary. She loved being a member and past president of the Hearthstone Garden Club, where she will be profoundly missed. Jean was a dedicated member of Family of Faith Lutheran Church. Through the years, Jean and her husband Jim traveled extensively, celebrating nature, historic landmarks, and the joy of meeting new friends wherever they went. They particularly enjoyed taking cruises and visiting family. Jean lived with a loving and grateful heart, and cast a bright light into the lives of those around her every day. Her warmth and generosity of spirit will be deeply missed but remembered always with clarity and gratitude by those who loved her. Jean is survived by her husband, Jim Bennett; sons and daughters-in-law, Les & Denise Bennett, Jeff & Susie Bennett; grandchildren, Christopher, Mitchell, Matthew, Bridgette, Ryan, and Maggie; sisters and brother-in-law, Judy Priddy, Betty & Otto Ortwein. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 8:00 PM Thursday July 2, 2009 at Memorial Oaks Funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday July 3, 2009 in the Family of Faith Lutheran Church. Interment will follow at Memorial Oaks Cemetery. Houston Chronicle - July 2, 2009
