Funeral services for Julian P. Barnes, 80, of 202 Riggs Circle, Marshall will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Colonial Chapel of Sullivan Funeral Home with Dr. F. M. Warden and the Rev. Marion Harris officiating. Burial will be in Algoma Memorial Gardens. Mr. Barnes died at 7:05 p.m. Thursday, Jan 3, 1985, in Memorial Hospital. A lifelong resident of Marshall, he was born Feb 21, 1904, in Harrison County, the son of William Oliver Barnes and Alice Gray Owens. He attended Hallsville and Marshall public schools, Koester School of Art and Design, Chicago, Ill., Art Institute of Chicago, and Winona School of Photography, Winona, Ind., as well as many workshops conducted by the Photographers Association of America. He married Pauline Scott on Dec 16, 1928, in Dallas. Mr. Barnes, a self-employed professional photographer for more than 40 years, operated a studio at his home. During World War II, he worked at Longhorn Ordinance, Karnack, as plant photographer and safety inspector. He was yearbook photographer at Marshall High School for many years. The school twice, 1950 and 1965, dedicated yearbooks to him. He was associated professionally with the Photographers Association of America. He was member of the Mens Camellia Club. Mr. Barnes was a member of First Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of Marshall; one daughter and son-in-law; one grandsons; two brothers and sisters-in-law; one Brother-in-law and sister-in-law; and a number of nieces and nephews.
