Bio

A. J. Weinberger, age 80, of West, died Friday, July 3, in a Temple hospital. Mr. Weinberger was born in Tours and lived in West for 53 years. He was owner-operator of Weinberger Barbershop for those 53 years. In 1922 he married Rose Deiterman, who preceded him in death in 1969. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption where he was an usher for many years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 25 in West and of St. Martin's Society in Tours. Family rosaries were led by his brother, Albert Weinberger, and by his cousin, Leo Miller. Sunday evening, the rosary was led by Monsignor George Doskocil. Mass of Christian Burial was at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary's Catholic Church with Monsignor George Doskocil as celebrant. St. Mary's Parent Teacher's Choir, led by Mrs. Barbara Talley, sang a selection of songs. Burial was in St. Martin's Cemetery in Tours. Survivors include a son, Raymond Weinberger of Rt. 2, West; two daughters, Mrs. Alvin (Estelle) Uptmore of Fort Worth and Mrs. Margie Joyce Horn of Temple; six grandsons and six granddaughters; four great-grandsons and ten great-granddaughters. Mr. Weinberger is also survived by four brothers, William Weinberger of Tours, Albert Weinberger, Julius Weinberger and Alphonse Weinberger of Rt. 2, West; and a number of nieces and nephews. Kotch Funeral Home, West, was in charge of arrangements.
