Bio

Beulah Lum Lirette, 102, of Pasadena, TX, passed away on Wednesday, June 10, 2009. Beulah was born in Liberty, TX, on Jan. 18, 1907, to Mr. William Everette Lum and Mrs. Nelly B. Crane Lum. She moved to Houston in 1915, and attended college in Greeley, CO. She started her teaching career in 1926, and taught for a number of years. She married Vaughn Andrew Lirette in 1929, a native of Houma, LA. They had two sons, Vaughn Andrew Lirette, Jr. and William Lum Lirette, M.D., now deceased. They lived in a home they built near Channelview, TX, for 50 years. After the death of her husband in May 1990, she returned to Baytown. Beulah was an artist and Charter member of the Baytown Art League. She was a long-time member of the Minerva Study Club, Baytown Garden Club, Lum-Raork UDC and DRT, Houston Lioness Club and PTA. She lived a life of thoughtfulness and gratitude. She is survived by her son, Vaughn Andrew Lirette, Jr., 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 12, 2009, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Earthman Funeral Home. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, June 13, 2009, at 10 a.m., in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow at White's Cemetery in Highlands.
