The Daily Herald, Provo, Utah, 19 Jan 1998 Sherwood W. "Chuck" West, 88, of Pleasant Grove passed away Friday, January 16, 1998. He was born December 21, 1909 in Pleasant Grove, Utah to David F. and Caroline White West. He married Wilma Hebertson. They were later divorced. He married Clarice Newman Smith, December 11, 1951 in Provo, Utah. She preceded him in death January 6, 1992. He was a lifetime resident of Pleasant Grove and received his education there. He served in the Pacific during World War II. He returned from the service, and after several jobs, worked for Pleasant Grove City and retired after several years of faithful service. In addition, he owned and operated fruit orchards in Pleasant Grove. He loved animals and cared for many during his life. He is survived by two sons and one daughter: Leonard (Irene) West, of West Valley, currently serving a mission in New Jersey; Valerie (Aldo) Bussio, Orem; Ferrin (LaVee) West, Provo; 20 grandchildren and numerous greatgrandchildren. Additional survivors include two step-sons. Glen (Colleen) Smith, American Fork; Gary (Roberta) Smith, Sait Lake; five step-grandchildren and numerous step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sons, Jack W. West, Everett West, three sisters and one brother. Funeral service will be held Wednesday. January 21, 1998 at 2:00 p.m. in the Grove Creek Fourth Ward Chapel, 700 East 500 North, Pleasant Grove. Friends may call Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Olpin Family Mortuary. 500 South 300 East, Pleasant Grove and at the church on Wednesday one hour prior to services. Burial will be in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Military Rites will be conducted by District IV of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the Beehive Home and its staff of Pleasant Grove for their kind care.
