Father: John Robert Slaughter Mother: Mary Liza Risinger Spouse: Addie Pearl Barnett Children: Mary Ann Slaughter Brunette John Thomas Slaughter John Richard Slaughter, 46, passed away at 5 am Sunday at a local hospital, following a long illness. Funeral services were held this afternoon at 2 o'clock at the Reliance Baptist church, with Rev. Charles E Bullock of Normangee officiating, assisted by Rev J. H. Landes of the College Avenue Baptist church. Interment was made in the family burying grounds in Reliance cemetery. Mr. Slaughter was born and reared in Brazos county. He was born May 29, 1897, and enlisted in the US Army from Brazos county, in WWI, Sept 4, 1918, and served as a private, 26th Company, 7th Battallion, 765 D.B. He received an honorable discharge, February 20, 1919 and returned to his home. Many friends learned with regret of his death. He is survived by his wife, Mrs Addie Pearl Slaughter, daughter, Mary Ann, two sisters, Mrs. Charles Saxon and mrs. Walter Hicks, and one brother, Wesley Slaughter living in Austin. McCullough Funeral Home had charge of all funeral arrangements and the following friends of the deceased served as pall bearers; Robert Jones, Sam Bullock, Lee Burley, Lloyd Smith, Jim Riley, Walter Lloyd.
