James Madison Fregia, age 96, of Hull, TX., died Tuesday in a Liberty Hospital. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2004 at the New Life Assembly Of God on Highway 105, in Batson, TX., at 2:00 p.m., with the Rev. C. W. ‘Bill' Campbell officiating, with burial to follow in the Guedry Cemetery, Batson, TX., A visitation will be held in the New Life Assembly Of God on Friday, September 10, 2004 from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. James was born on April 25, 1908 in Batson, TX., to Lezam Fregia and Julia Marcontell Fregia. He was a real cowboy, worked cows and made many cattle drive in South Texas and Louisiana. As one ole timer said, "There never was a horse Madison could not ride". Madison worked many years for the John W. Meacom Company as a roughneck and rig operator in the oilfield. He enjoyed working in the garden and taking care of his animals. Madison cared for his fellowman and loved his church family. In his later years he grew closer to the Lord and was an inspiration to the younger generation. He had a great love for his family and will missed by many a friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son: John Raymond Fregia, two daughters: Linda Faye and Dorothy Jean Fregia, and all of his brothers and sisters.
