MARY ELIZABETH HODGE DRAB A mother and friend, resident of Oakland for 64 years and a parishioner of St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, died November 5, 2006. She was 84. Born December 7, 1921, and raised in East Bernard, Texas. She moved to Oakland November 28, 1942. She worked in the ship yards during the war and had many jobs while raising her eleven children, two nieces and many others. Mary was active in the East Oakland Community. A member of the Perata House Foundation, the Degree of Pocahontas, the Senor Citizen's Patrol in the Fruitvale area, and worked for Don Perata to be elected. Mary is survived by her sister, Lily Houser of Houston, Texas; her eleven children, fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 10, 2006, 8 - 9:30 a.m. at Clarence N. Cooper Mortuary, 1580 Fruitvale Ave., Oakland, CA 94601; 510-533-4114. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church, 1500 - 43th Ave., Oakland, CA 94601; 510-536-1266, on Friday, November 10, 2006, at 10 a.m. Private family burial will follow at Saint Mary's Catholic Cemetery on Monday afternoon. Isaiah 46:4 - Even when you are old I will be the same. And even when your hair turns white, I will help you. I will take care of what I have made. I will carry you and will save you.
