MAURICE E. VALIS Publication Date: February 13, 2005 SAN ANGELO — Maurice E. Valis, 67, of San Angelo passed away Thursday, Feb. 10, 2005, in a local hospital. Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14, in the Robert Massie Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Bob Stine, nephew, officiating. Burial will follow in Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Maurice was born Feb. 20, 1937, in Eldorado, Texas, to Frank and Clara Valis. He married Liz Lindley on Sept. 9, 1955, in San Angelo. He worked for Modern Way Grocery as an assistant manager, Foremost Dairies in Odessa, then 22 years as general manager of 4C Distributing Company. He finished his career as a rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service before retirement. He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Valis; and a sister, Dorothy Krieger. Survivors include his wife, LIZ VALIS ; three daughters, Cindy Rogers and husband Don of Midland, Kathy Williams of San Angelo and SHERRI (VALIS) WOLFF of the Woodlands, Texas; mother, Clara Valis of Lockhart, Texas; brother, Martin Valis and wife Lil of San Angelo; mother-in-law, Bernice Newberry of San Angelo; grandchildren, Julia Baker, Chelsea Williams, Whitney Sawyer, Craig Wolff, Camron Wolff and Tyler Rogers; great-granddaughter, Michaela Baker; and numerous family members. Pallbearers will be Daniel Vrabel, John Rufenacht, Harvey Fuchs, Bill Stephenson, Steve Stephenson and John Frock. Honorary pallbearer is Joe Black. The family wishes to thank Dr. Dawn Gonzales and the staff and nurses of Angelo Community Hospital for the loving care and attention shown to Maurice.
