STELLA LAVONNA KING SHAW OBITUARY – Erie Record Mrs. Henry Shaw, 67, died at Neosho Memorial Hospital at Chanute, October 23, 1953. She entered the hospital for observation and treatment two days before her death. Mrs. Shaw had been a diabetic for several years and had been hospitalized a number of times for this ailment. Stella Lavonna King, daughter of Charles and Ellen Lane King, was born November 7, 1885, in Greenwood County and as an infant moved to Pratt with her parents. She was married there to Henry Shaw, November 11, 1903, and they lived there 18 years before moving to Sublette where they resided 19 years. They moved from there to Erie which has since been the family home. The deceased was a member of the Friends church near Pratt. The Shaw's would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on November 11. Survivors besides her husband are five daughters: Mrs. Ed McGowen and Mrs. Verle Craven of Erie, Mrs. Blanche Newsom, Garden City, Mrs. Cecil Potts, Walnut, and Mrs. Wylie Breckenridge, Monte Vista, Colorado; two sons, Virgil of Erie, and Clifford of Wichita; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; four sisters and three brothers. Burial was in East Hill cemetery.
